'Beauty and the Beast' trailer reaches 91.8 million views in 24 hours

Disney's Beauty and the Beast is no stranger making history. When the animated classic was released in 1991, it became, not only the first animated film to gross over $100 dollars at the box office, but also the first animated film to be nominated for Best Picture at the Academy Awards, among many other distinctions.

Twenty-five years later, it seems little has changed for Belle and her Beast as the upcoming live-action adaptation is already breaking records and taking down a few Wookies on its way to the top. The first teaser trailer for the 2017 film was released this past Monday, much to the joy of fans, who translated that passion into 91.8 million views in twenty-four hours! Star Wars: The Force Awakens previously held the top spot for Disney with its second teaser trailer racking up 88 million views in its first day last April.

The film's official Facebook page posted a thank you to fans for their support of the upcoming film.

Josh Gad (Le Fou) also thanked fans for their "outpouring of love."

If you are heading out to see Alice Through the Looking Glass, keep an eye out for the Beauty and the Beast trailer in theaters this weekend. If not, check out the trailer below for the 91,800,001st time!
