The 25th anniversary release of Beauty and the Beast is upon us and it is time to celebrate the animated film's milestone! Disney's D23 is releasing new content throughout the month of September for the Fanniversary event, including new videos, activities, and more.

D23 celebrates the 25th anniversary of 'Beauty and the Beast' with Fanniversary activities & more

In case you missed it, this year marks the 25th anniversary of Beauty and the Beast. While the film's actual anniversary is not until November, many of the festivities are taking place over the next two months. In addition to the upcoming Blu-ray/DVD re-release and the film's two week engagement at the El Capitan Theatre, Disney's D23 will also join in on the celebration.

The next issue of Disney twenty-three, which is available exclusively to D23 Gold Members, will feature an look at the legacy of Beauty and the Beast, from screen to stage to Disney parks. The issue will also include interviews with the original voice cast, composer Alan Menken, and producer Don Hahn, as well as a peek at the upcoming live-action adaptation.

This year, Disney’s Beauty and the Beast—the first animated film ever to be nominated for an Academy Award® for Best Picture—celebrates its 25th anniversary, and Disney twenty-three is giving fans a spectacular look at the film from its inception to its timeless legacy. The issue features interviews with Paige O’Hara (Belle), Robby Benson (Beast), Angela Lansbury (Mrs. Potts), David Ogden Stiers (Cogsworth), Richard White (Gaston), composer Alan Menken, screenwriter Linda Woolverton, producer Don Hahn, and many more, as well as stories about how the film has been equally successful in Disney theme parks and on stage. Plus, readers will learn more about the live-action adaptation of the film, coming to theaters in 2017.

D23 also released details for the upcoming Fanniversary celebration, including a complementary screening of the film for Gold and General D23 members. The screening will be held at the El Capitan Theatre on Friday, September 2nd at 7pm. Gold members can begin making reservations on Monday, August 15th and general members on the 17th. Screening in additional cities will be announced in the coming days.

OVERVIEW- To kick off D23’s “Fanniversary: Celebrating 25 Years of Beauty and the Beast,” members are invited to “be our guest” at a complimentary screening of this classic movie, complete with popcorn and beverage, at the legendary El Capitan Theatre in Hollywood, California!

DETAILS- The movie screening begins at 7 p.m. at the El Capitan Theatre. Check-in will begin at 6 p.m. Please do not arrive before 6 p.m. D23 Members and Gold Members may register for themselves and up to one (1) guest. D23 Gold Family Members may register for themselves and up to three (3) guests.

The Fanniversary celebration will continue online beginning September 5th with exclusive features, new videos, printables, recipes, and more.

Disney debuted footage from Beauty and the Beast during the live action presentation at the D23 Expo this Saturday, as well as a video message from stars Emma Watson, Luke Evans, and Josh Gad. Although no photos or footage from the film has been released, Watson's video message from the set is now available to view online.

'Beauty and the Beast' D23 Expo Round-Up

There were rumors of Beauty and the Beast making an appearance at this weekend's Disney D23 Expo and in this instance, internet chatter turned out to be true. The first footage was screened during a montage at one of the convention's opening presentations and offered those in attendance a first look at Emma Watson as Belle. Footage was also screened at Saturday morning's "Worlds, Galaxies, and Universes: Live Action at the Walt Disney Studios" presentation, along with video messages from stars Emma Watson, Luke Evans, and Josh Gad. First look at 'Beauty and the Beast' debuts at Disney's D23 Expo

Although no official announcement was made concerning Beauty and the Beast at this weekend's D23 Expo, there were rumors circulating that the film would be part of this weekend's festivities. Well, the rumors turned out to be true as reports have popped up on Twitter that a short glimpse of Emma Watson as Belle was included among the convention's opening montage.

The Pixar and Walt Disney Animation Studios panel on Friday afternoon was the first major creative panel at D23 Expo 2015, and John Lasseter, head of all animation for Disney was on hand to host. Expected news included more about this year's The Good Dinosaur, plus Zootopia, Finding Dory, and more.

The Massive Hall D23 was packed full with every single seat filled with anxious Disney fans. People dressed as Disney princesses and Sith Lords, Marvel heroes and fairies and even as emotions waited for the panel, the unofficial beginning of the show for many.

"We have met heroes and discovered worlds, but the adventure has just begun," starts a sizzle reel that included shots of Avengers characters, animated films, and more. Then it shifted into new films, including Toy Story 4, a shot of Emma Watson as Belle in Beauty and the Beast, the live action Pete's Dragon, Civil War, The Force Awakens, and everything else on the upcoming Disney slate.

"Our Story starts with everything you can imagine."

Hopefully we will hear more about Beauty and the Beast this weekend and maybe those of us at home will even be treated to our own first look at the film.
