New promotional images of Emma Watson as Belle

New promotional images of Belle have surfaced online over the last few days. Alternate versions of the images have previously appeared on newly released Beauty and the Beast toys and books.

"Beauty is found within" a set of new Belle and Beast illustations

A set of new Beauty and the Beast illustrations were discovered among the pages of a Disney cast member exclusive booklet. The images feature Belle and Beast in the library and their ballroom attire. Hopefully we will see some of these illustrations again soon on Disney Store merchandise.

LISTEN: Official audio clip of Emma Watson singing "Something There"

Audio from a new live-action Belle doll gave fans their first sneak peek of Emma Watson singing one of Beauty and the Beast's classic songs, "Something There." On the heels of the fan-recorded video, Disney has now released a high quality clip of the song.

LISTEN: Sneak Peek of Emma Watson singing "Something There"

"There may be something there that wasn't there before!"

And there certainly was something there this morning when a sneak peek of Emma Watson singing popped up on Instagram. The recording was taken from one of the new live-action Belle dolls from Hasbro, which was discovered in stores a few days ago.

New image of Belle in her "royal celebration" gown

By the end of the animated Beauty and the Beast, Belle is back in her ball gown that we all know, and love, so much, but it seems the live-action film is going to have a bit of a costume change.

A lucky shopper spotted a new "Royal Celebration" doll set with Belle and the prince at their local Toys R Us (live-action BATB toys have been showing up in a few stores a bit early). The set includes the Belle doll in a floral dress, as well as a new image of Emma Watson as Belle on the box. Since the prince in his human form is also part of the set, it is safe to assume this costume is from the end of the film.

Four new images of Emma Watson as Belle

UPDATE: A few other toy packages have also reveled new images of Emma Watson as Belle. The three most recent images include Belle & Lumiere, Belle in her "royal celebration" gown, and Belle in her village dress. 





A few upcoming toys related to the live-action Beauty and the Beast have begun appearing online and, in addition to our first look at the film's merchandise, the packaging also gave us a new look at Belle and the enchanted rose.

New image of Belle (Emma Watson) and Gaston (Luke Evans) in 'Beauty and the Beast'

What a start to the morning! Empire Magazine has debuted a new image of Belle (Emma Watson) and Gaston (Luke Evans) in their provincial town.


"He gets as dark as any Disney character could possibly get", says Gaston himself, Luke Evans. The character, while still comic relief, is also an ex-soldier – there are, according to Evans, several shades to him. "This is a man who, for the first time in his life, hasn't got what he wanted."

Leading lady Emma Watson, meanwhile, seem to have got everything she wanted, having been a Beauty And The Beast superfan as a nipper. "Belle was one of my idols growing up," she tells us. "I knew every word to the animation. I was born in Paris like Belle. We both love books, obviously. She is someone who doesn't really feel like she fits in, but she finds her place in the world and uses what makes her different. She was just inspiring to me."
We may have already had a small look at this scene, although from a bit of a distance, during the behind the scenes featurette that was included on the 25th anniversary Blu-ray release of Beauty and the Beast.

Emma Watson: "We made Belle an inventor"

One of the newly released images from Beauty and the Beast gave us our first look at Kevin Kline as Maurice, as well as a bit of insight into Belle's relationship with her father.



Emma Watson spoke with Entertainment Weekly about expanding Belle's backstory and why she has so much time to read.
“In the animated movie, it’s her father who is the inventor, and we actually co-opted that for Belle,” says Watson. “I was like, ‘Well, there was never very much information or detail at the beginning of the story as to why Belle didn’t fit in, other than she liked books. Also what is she doing with her time?’ So, we created a backstory for her, which was that she had invented a kind of washing machine, so that, instead of doing laundry, she could sit and use that time to read instead. So, yeah, we made Belle an inventor.”

According to set decorator Katie Spencer, Maurice, who is troubled by the loss of Belle's mother, spends his time crafting music boxes for his daughter in addition to being an inventor.
“Kevin Kline as Maurice, is making all these music boxes that have to tell the story of Belle not traveling,” says the film’s set decorator, Katie Spencer. “She’s overprotected in a way, by her father, because she’s lost her mother. So, we’ve made all these music boxes that represent different countries of the world, so she can see what she’s missing.”

First look at Luke Evans and Josh Gad in 'Beauty and the Beast' & more behind the scenes photos

Disney has been relatively stingy with what they have released from the live-action adaptation of Beauty and the Beast. Besides the teaser trailer and a few behind the scenes photos, fans seen very little of the film...until now.

The upcoming 25th anniversary Blu-ray/ Digital HD release of the animated classic is not available until next month, but some lucky fans had early access to the new special features, including a sneak peek of the live-action film, through iTunes. According to a thread on Blu-ray.com, the featurette runs 1:23 and showcases "mostly a table read with the cast, B-roll of the sets and a few costume sketches with Bill Condon narrating."

Photos have also surfaced from the sneak peek, including our first look at Luke Evans as Gaston and Josh Gad as Le Fou in the Tavern. There are also images of Dan Stevens as the Prince, Luke Evans and company rehearsing "Gaston," as well as costume sketches, concept art of the enchanted objects, and more.

The 25th anniversary edition of Beauty and the Beast will be available September 6th on Digital HD & Disney Movies Anywhere and September 20th on Blu-ray. Find out more about the upcoming release here.

Emma Watson: "I have loved 'Beauty and the Beast' since I was about four years old."

Tonight's premiere of Elena of Avalor on Disney Channel offered up more than a new Disney Princess; it also gave us a sneak peek at two of Disney's new live-action films. The hour-long premiere featured a clip from the upcoming remake of Pete's Dragon and the Beauty and the Beast teaser trailer, along with a new interview with star Emma Watson. Although the trailer did not feature any new footage, the short interview with Watson was only previously screened for D23 attendants last August.

In the clip, which can be viewed below, Watson discusses her love for the original animated film and what drew her to the character of Belle.
"I have loved Beauty and the Beast since I was about four years old. I just fell in love with Belle. She was this feisty young woman who spoke her mind, so to get to play Belle is just amazing."

Paige O'Hara reveals what she is most excited to see in the live-action film

The ballroom scene. "Be Our Guest." Beast giving Belle the library. Beauty and the Beast is filled with so many memorable and beloved scenes that it is sometimes difficult to decide what I am most excited to see brought to life in the live-action film (I want them all!). Paige O'Hara, the original voice of Belle, does not seem to have that problem as she revealed to Buzzfeed that she is particularly excited to see "Something There" in the new film.
“In [the original] movie it was in the snow scene of ‘Something There’ that we made a specific choice that it hits Belle: She’s really falling in love with [the Beast]. I want to see Emma’s moment when she realizes she’s fallen in love. That will be so exciting.”
O'Hara also spoke highly of Emma Watson taking on the role of Belle.
“If I were producing the film, I would have cast her. I think she’s absolutely perfect for the role. She’s got the outward beauty, but she’s also got an inward beauty about her, and an old soul. Through mutual people we’ve sent messages, and I just basically was wishing her all the best and to have a wonderful time.”

Paige O'Hara to Emma Watson: "I just said to have a great time."

The Academy hosted a 25th anniversary screening of Beauty and the Beast on Monday night, which was preceded by a conversation with the original voice cast and creative team. During the event, Paige O'Hara, the voice of Belle, revealed she reached out to Emma Watson, who will be playing Belle in the live-action film.
Paige O'Hara, who voices Belle, could not be more pleased with the casting of Emma Watson as the live-action leading lady. In fact, unlike the rest the original voice cast, she has corresponded with the actress playing her character. "I sent messages to her, and I got some back," O'Hara said. "I just said to have a great time."
In addition to this beauty of an insight, USA Today shared a few more highlights from the night's celebration.
Beast was never given a "Prince" name.

Online, the post-change Beast has been called "Prince Adam." However, director Gary Trousdale said that's never what he called the character. "We didn't name him, because he was a beast for 98% of the movie," he told USA TODAY. "It didn't even occur to us until we were animating the Prince, and we were like 'we don't know what his name is.'" In fact, Trousdale was surprised to read of the "Adam" name, himself, on IMDb. "I think he was named Prince Adam in one of the direct-to-video sequels," he said.

The actor behind Gaston contends the character's still alive.

Richard White, who voices Gaston, thinks there's a good chance the muscly bad guy didn't die at the end of the movie. "Did you see a body? I never saw a body, and I'm waiting to find out" if he's is still alive, he said. Oh, and White doesn't see Gaston as a villain. "He's just misunderstood," he said, and then went into his character's signature cackle.

Animators obsessed over Gaston's chest hair.

Supervising animator on Gaston, Andreas Deja, said there was a contest among animators to design Gaston's chest hair that's exposed while the character sings the line "And every last inch of me's covered in hair." The first version at the body hair wasn't right: It looked as though it was combed. Deja said that working on Gaston-- his chest hair and all-- was a challenge, because Deja was told that the character "has to be handsome," but also evil.

While promoting her new film Regression, Emma Watson also spoke about Beauty and the Beast and how the upcoming live-action film differs from the classic animated film. Watson also reflects on having the opportunity to play both Belle and Hermione, two of her favorite heroines.

Emma Watson and Luke Evans wrap filming on 'Beauty and the Beast'

It's hard to believe, but production is beginning to wind down on Beauty and the Beast. Josh Gad, who plays Le Fou in the film, wrapped filming back in July and costars Emma Watson (Belle) and Luke Evans (Gaston) are following suit this week. Both announced their final days on set via Twitter, with Watson's being a bit more sentimental, as August 21st also marks a Harry Potter anniversary for the actress. Beauty and the Beast is set for release on March 17, 2017.

First look at 'Beauty and the Beast' debuts at Disney's D23 Expo

Although no official announcement was made concerning Beauty and the Beast at this weekend's D23 Expo, there were rumors circulating that the film would be part of this weekend's festivities. Well, the rumors turned out to be true as reports have popped up on Twitter that a short glimpse of Emma Watson as Belle was included among the convention's opening montage.

The Pixar and Walt Disney Animation Studios panel on Friday afternoon was the first major creative panel at D23 Expo 2015, and John Lasseter, head of all animation for Disney was on hand to host. Expected news included more about this year's The Good Dinosaur, plus Zootopia, Finding Dory, and more.

The Massive Hall D23 was packed full with every single seat filled with anxious Disney fans. People dressed as Disney princesses and Sith Lords, Marvel heroes and fairies and even as emotions waited for the panel, the unofficial beginning of the show for many.

"We have met heroes and discovered worlds, but the adventure has just begun," starts a sizzle reel that included shots of Avengers characters, animated films, and more. Then it shifted into new films, including Toy Story 4, a shot of Emma Watson as Belle in Beauty and the Beast, the live action Pete's Dragon, Civil War, The Force Awakens, and everything else on the upcoming Disney slate.

"Our Story starts with everything you can imagine."

Hopefully we will hear more about Beauty and the Beast this weekend and maybe those of us at home will even be treated to our own first look at the film.
